March 2007
Greetings once again from the windswept slopes of Ghost Mountain! We may not have seen many of you for a while, since we've been traveling much less than we used to, and we miss everybody we've come to know and love around the Southeast, but rest assured you're not forgotten and we hope to be back in your neighborhood soon. The website is being updated, bit by bit, and you'll find new mp3's of four selections from the Transmitter album, along with a different video clip (from the Hometown Jam TV series in east Tennessee, one of Richard's first gigs with us) and current bios. As you will see, there have been some personnel changes over the past year, and if you haven't had a chance to hear the band lately, we hope you'll be able to check it out. Gary Wiley on bass and newest member Rick McQuillis, who played in New Orleans for many years, on keyboards, are great players and bring many years of experience to the band. Although some outside projects and family commitments have kept us closer to home, we're still working, learning some new material and hoping to have a new album with the current lineup available sometime this year, and are ready to travel under the right circumstances. We're very grateful to band members past and present, and special guests, who have kept Ghost Mountain Rhythm and Blues rolling for almost ten years now, and to the many club owners, promoters, and friends who've had faith enough to hire us over and over. Last but certainly not least, we thank all of you listeners who've supported the band, and given us faith that, even in the new millenium with factory-processed, laboratory-synthesized drivel dominating the cultural soundscape, there is still room for decent live music played by human beings. We love ya and hope to see you soon!
GHOST MOUNTAIN Voted Best Band
in Asheville Citizen-Times BEST OF 2005 Poll (www.citizen-times.com) in the May 22, 2005 issue. While this comes as a total and delightful surprise, we are very honored, thankful, and humbled to have such friends and fans, who are obviously more numerous than we know....
More recent news: Ghost Mountain was saddened by the departure of founding member Tim Malone recently. From producing our albums, to driving in the wee hours over countless miles of highway, to managing our website and business affairs, to playing some great bass, Tim has been the foundation of this band, in every sense, since its inception some seven years ago, and a great friend to all of us as well. It's safe to say Ghost Mountain wouldn't exist if it weren't for Tim's energy , talent, and perseverence. We will greatly miss him, and wish him happiness and fulfillment in his many endeavors.
We're very thankful that our good friend Gary Wiley has been able to join us on bass...read about his remarkable background on the Member Bios page.
Old News: Ghost Mountain welcomes Richard Foulk on percussion and Jeremy Corn on keyboards to the group.
While we regret the departure of Lee Plemmons and Jerry Sams from the original group (good luck, guys!) we are fortunate to have talented and personable replacements for them. Come hear the new group and find out what the buzz is all about.
